Support for your teaching

The Library can support your teaching in a variety of ways. There is help available from our subject specialists as well as a wealth of online learning and instructional resources for you to access.

Academic Librarians

Your point of contact with the Library. If you are developing a new programme, please contact your Academic Librarian as early as possible to discuss making materials accessible and any associated skills support.

Module reading lists

Each teaching module has its own reading list on the University’s reading list system. There is guidance, including a series of concise videos, to acquaint you with the system. There is also best practice guidance to ensure your lists help students to manage their reading and access resources.

Requesting materials

There are two ways to request Library resources. To request books or articles required for teaching, add them to your reading list directly. To suggest resources for the general collection, to support research activity or recommend a new database, please see the guidance provided.

Our skills development suite of teaching plans and materials: help your students to discover, evaluate, reference and manage information. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and to arrange appropriate in-person, online or blended support.

Skills development for your students

To further their academic skills development, signpost your students to our tailored modules on Learn - Academic Skills module (LUA001) and Dissertation and Project Success module. The Library Induction module provides an introduction to Library services and support.

Copyright and teaching materials

Navigating the use of third-party materials in your teaching can be confusing. The Library has developed guidance to help you to avoid infringing other people’s copyright while retaining the confidence to create effective and engaging teaching materials.
