Professor Dr Phebe Mann was named STEM Champion at the awards ceremony held in London on16 September. The , organised by New Civil Engineer, Ground Engineering and Construction News, recognise individuals and organisations driving positive change across the construction and engineering sectors, while championing diversity and inclusion within the industry.
Professor Mann, the first person to be a finalist in both STEM and Allyship Champion categories, was recognised for her commitment to inspiring future generations of engineers and built environment professionals. She currently serves as Deputy Chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Council, deputising for the ICE President in his absence or where a conflict of interest arises. She has a distinguished career spanning civil engineering, construction management, law and higher education.
Professor Mann currently contributes to teaching and research supervision at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ and is widely recognised for her work advancing professional standards, promoting diversity and inclusion and encouraging more women to pursue careers in engineering and construction.
The IWCEA awards are presented following the annual Inspiring Women in Construction and Engineering Conference, which welcomed women and allies from across the sector for the opportunity to network, learn and engage in professional development.
